For most Caribbean businesses, the fastest way to get more calls and visits from Google is not a new website. It’s a complete, well-managed Google Business Profile (GBP).
Why it matters
When someone searches “hardware store near me” or “best roti in Port of Spain”, Google shows a map with three businesses before any normal results. That’s the map pack, and your Business Profile decides whether you appear in it.
The checklist
- Claim and verify your profile at business.google.com.
- Choose the right primary category. Be specific: “Seafood restaurant” beats “Restaurant”.
- Use your real business name. Don’t stuff keywords into it. Google can suspend you for that.
- Add accurate hours, including public holidays.
- Upload real photos of your storefront, team and products. Aim for at least 10.
- Write a clear description of what you do and which areas you serve.
- Ask every happy customer for a review, and reply to every review, good or bad.
- Post updates such as offers, events and new products at least twice a month.
Watch out for addresses
Many Caribbean addresses don’t match Google’s format. If your pin is in the wrong place, drag it to your exact location during setup, and add clear landmarks in your description.
